New name, old crap
So this site has a slightly new name--an added "newslitter." It's a Joycean portmanteau word combining "newsletter" and "litter" in a way that, I think, perfectly captures not only what I write about here but what I read on every other web site I've ever visited. The whole world's just a trash-heap of half-baked ideas. Joyce was just the only one to really put it all in its proper context, so I honor him.
The Joycean reference also reflects a new project I've begun--annotating Finnegans Wake's book I, chapter 7. I'm trying to sift through the chapter to examine its rather impressive array of unusual allusions and jokes and other debris. I've written several essays on the chapter already, and I plan to post those here in altered form.
FW is not for everyone, but neither is my site. Here's hoping you find it interesting.
