Good news on two fronts:
1. I've finally--FINALLY--added a new review to 25, Rechenzentrum's Director's Cut. I've been writing a LOT of reviews over the past few months (since July, when last I added a review to 25). However, many of those reviews appeared on my new Listening to Altamy site for Central Asian music. The other reviews were written for Stylus Magazine, and they were reviews of albums that, frankly, didn't deserve to be posted on 25. I'm still planning to add reviews to a few new 12k releases I've picked up over the past few months. However, I have a backlog of promo releases I need to sift through first (and, by the way, I don't expect many of those to appear here, either).
2. The Avanto Festival--Finland's premier electronic extravaganza--has just announced its latest lineup. Sadly, this year's festival does not feature Pan Sonic. In fact, I don't know what the hell is going on with those guys--even the Pan Sonic web site seems rather mute about their activities. New album, boys? Perhaps sometime before the next Ice Age? Please? Anyways, this year's Avanto features Radian, Ultra Red, Terre Thaemlitz, Mira Calix, and many others (plus, there's a whole host of visual artists, as well). The festival runs from November 20-23. Sadly, once again, I cannot make it, so I'll have to make do with the (usually outstanding) album compilation that is released at the festival and then available via M.DOS shortly afterwards. One of these days, I'm going to attend this festival, though--either as a performer or as an audience member. For more information on the Avanto Festival, please check out the Festival's web site.
